Temecula Rod Run & Cars & Coffee OC

The month's finest gatherings for automotive enthusiasts, from 500-plus classic cars in Old Town Temecula to the weekly ritual of Cars & Coffee.

There is a particular kind of silence that falls over a crowd when a perfectly restored 1957 Thunderbird rolls into view. It's not reverence, exactly — it's recognition. The recognition that someone has poured thousands of hours and an unreasonable amount of love into preserving something beautiful.

The Temecula Rod Run, held May 1–2 in Old Town Temecula, is the premier automotive spectacle of the month. Over 500 classic cars — Model A's, T-Birds, roadsters, and everything in between — descend on the historic district for a Friday Night Cruise and Saturday Show & Shine that transforms the town into a living automotive museum.

For those who prefer their automotive culture with a side of espresso, Cars & Coffee Orange County continues its weekly weekend gatherings of exotic and classic automobiles. The format is simple: show up early, bring your car (or just your appreciation), and spend a few hours among people who understand that a well-maintained engine is a form of art.

Later in the month, the Laguna Hills 6th Annual Car Show on May 16 and the Kowabunga Van Car Show in Huntington Beach on May 31 round out a month that proves Southern California remains the undisputed capital of car culture.
